Tablet Weaving Cards & Mortar and Pestle

Tried my hand at making card weaving tablets.

I used dogwood due to its strength, and ripped it down to ~ 1/16″.

I then drilled a template block. In the 1/4″ holes I placed dowel centers so I could make exact marks in the dogwood cards.
I then took them to the drill press to drill the holes, then singed them so no threads would catch on rough wood.

Once I had 8 cards done and held in place in the template block, I took them to a sanding drum in the drill press, so I could get all the cards sanded to a uniform shape.

I don’t have a picture of the final cards (bad Mary)

I also have to make a couple of prises for the upcoming trifecta event in Lions Gate. I started to make a tumbler out of some scrap wood I have, but then changed my mind, and turned a mortal & pestle.

More shop fun tomorrow… wood beads…lots of frak’n wood beads
