Got a bit more done on the Turned Bedframe
Have all the larger dowels roughed down to size
Starting in on the Center Doughnut.
Turning a 1″ sphere with two 1/2″ 90′ holes through it is hard… real hard!
Doughnut in bedframe
Center panel with 1″ spheres. The small dots are 1/4″ buttons. Not sure if I’ll add them or [...]
Last February, Mistress Agnes and her Merry Minions (aprenti) ran a event that combined a Newcomers workshop, A&S competion, and the Day of Dance. My job was to organize and run a one day A&S display. Everything went reasonably well, but I do admit to forgeting to take images of everyones displays including my own. Well, [...]
Since I have been playing around with milk paint, I decided to try my hand at making my own milk curds.
I don’t want to muck about with cooking, so the test will be done at room tempature.
1L skim milk (.4%mf, and three days from expiry date)
apple cider vinegar 5.5%a.acid (all i had)
Control = ~350ml s.m.
Trial#1 [...]
Got a bit more work done on the turned bed frame.
Made a plan for all the spindles. Every sq. is 1″ in length.
Took apart another couple of skids, turned down a half dozen to ~2″ round.
More porcupine poles.
The top and bottom cross rails. I will have to turn down the ends a bit more when [...]
Alright,
Heres my drawing (one step up from the doodle) of the turned bed frame.
Heres a picture of a example of the insanity a wood turner can get up too. I have found no images of a bedframe done in such a manner, but I can so believe that a turner would have been just as [...]
The skid scrap chest is heading towards the finish line. I painted the whole thing with milk paint stained with tumeric. My test pieces of the milkpaint stain has shown a fair amount of fading, but I just wanted to get this thing done. Once I got one good coat on I did [...]
I got more work done on the yurt door.
Each corner of the door frame now have hinges (two removable pins)
Double checking the door fits
The inner strips fit inside the door frame. end clip accounts for the hinge
Door assembled with all the hinges attached
Door diassembed by removing the eight pins
Staining it all the same color as [...]
Since the hutch I made was still a little damp from the linseed oil from last night, I had to put off the installation of the lock and hinges. Instead I decided to build a better door for my yurt. First off, I never really intended to use the yurt. I built it as a [...]
This is one of my oldest SCA pieces of furniture I have made. It’s a very simple lap jointed stool. I have made close to a dozen of these over the years mainly do to an unlimited source of high quality scrap plywood from my company. I am including a link to a couple draft [...]
Finished making the fake water barrel. I really don’t think I will ever make this again. It looks great, but is a whole lot of work for the finished product. I would be willing to make one were there are no bevel cuts, It would still look cool, just not all that barrel like.
Attached the small [...]
