Yurt Stuff v1.2

Yurt Stuff v1.2

Finally got the canvas roof done. So much nicer than the brown tarp. It was cool I made a functioning yurt for ~$35, but that tarp was really butt ugly.
Now to make the side walls, and a locking mechanism for the door.

Turned Bed Frame v1.6

So close.  13 more pieces to turn, and then the decision to paint it all fancy or to leave it plain.

End tenons chiseled and sanded down to 1″

The rough rounded dowels. [...]

Finished all the turned work on the head board.
Still have to paint all the parts  either red, black or gold leaf.

Originally I was going to make the whole bed from the Douglas Fir pallets from my workplace. Well plans change. My company recently went through a massive restructuring. We are now primarily a research facility, [...]

Milk Paint v1.2 In Search or Red

Milk Paint v1.2 In Search or Red

Did a bit more experimenting with dyes for milk paint.  I have no problem with getting  Blacks, Oranges, or Yellows but am having an ace of a time getting a decent red for my rope bed.

Saffron, Brazil Wood, Turmeric, Red Oxide, Carbon Black, Red Saw Dust in Isopropanol,Red Ainiline Dye, and a Black Ainiline Dye [...]
