Inspiration: Folding Shelves

Sir Master Geoffrey de Rennes has made this wonderful collapsing shelving set out of recycled plywood. The whole thing breaks down into two separate parts. The lower section for larger more mundane object gets covered with a cloth.Large cut outs in the bottom cut down on weight, and the cut outs are then lined with cloth so to not revel said objects. The upper section is left exposed and placed upon the lower cupboard.

The block under the shelf is drilled trough and the dowel then pushed through the side panels  supporting the shelf.

Both units end up folding down to ~2″ thick.

I love the whole idea of the pieces folding completely flat. I don’t intend to build a set, but it has got me thinking as how to go about building a folding flat ambury cupboard.  I have started stock piling the scrap packing crates from work for the project.  Stay Tuned.
