Kumihimo Spools

I made up a few sample kumihimo spools for HL Mariko. Not sure If they are exactly what she wants, but I have had the project on the todo list for way to long.

I made them out of Dogwood blanks. They are old twisty thin pieces not much thicker than ~1″ thick. This size limit, plus the fact it finishes smooth makes it a good choice for spools.

Quickly turned it down to a 1″ dowel.

Cut out the shapes using mostly a parting tool.

1/8″ is about as thin as I could trim the spools down to. Serious wobble

Hope they are what she wants. I have another 12 to do after approval.
