A.T. War 2009

This last weekend was the second annual AT War (Avacal/Tir Righ). Approx 400 people gathered in Clearwater BC to party with the buffalo.

two words = Awesome Event.

We had a large contingent of royals from kingdom, and principalities. The streets were lined with a large amount of period pavilions. THUA (Their Highness University of Avacal) session had a large amount of interesting classes. The Tacky Tahiti erik party was packed and a big slice of awesome sauce.

There was a Siege A&S contest. You had to use two random items from the big pile of stuff, and at least one item from the site itself.  ”No hunting of the buffalo allowed “. There was a large amount of entries into the contest including Alchemy from trees (Tar & Lye), Popsicle stick Trebuchet, Plague Baby..etc. We had four entries from my encampment. Mistress Agnes made a nine man morris board/bag, Mariko made a paper hawk kite, Maille made wooden bead rosary, and I entered an AT war banner. The A&S point went to Tir Righ for my war banner (they really liked the use of the theme logo, but found my stitchery very rudimentary….LOL)

Mistress Agnes finally was recognized for her constantly inspiring dedication to persona related stuff. The comment “Like she just walked out of an illumination” was used, and I couldn’t agree more. She makes a great addition to the Order of the Carp.

Tacky Tahiti erik party was great.  Strangely the party lead to a weird project I am going to be working on. A series of articles on “Douche bags from History”. My vote is for Martin Luther for vandalizing church property.

Took two classes with THUA this event

I took an introduction to tablet weaving class. It was the method were you attach the work to your belt, and you maintain the tension. This is a method I don’t seem to have much of an aptitude for. Even the teacher said it would be better if I made a frame for the weaving. I seem to want to rock and shift alot while weaving causing change in tension in the weft.

I also took a class on scrimshaw etching taught by Mistress Kate (Who has the greatest “I own the world” swagger). I made a small tablet with an etched turnip, Two headed cock, and the motto “Not My Monkey”. I’ll find an image of it after I unpack (and find where I put it).

I also walked the perimeter of the buffalo fences and gathered a bunch of molted fleece. Cleaned it last night, and just waiting for it to dry.

I can’t wait till next year.
