Lions Gate Archery Defenders

Last weekend a small low key event happened out in Maple Ridge. The Barony of Lions Gate held its annual Archery Defenders tourney.  Normally this was combined with the Heavy Defenders tourney (Not absolutely sure on that, could be rapier defenders), but this year they tried giving all defenders  disciplines a separate event. Well predictably there was a low turnout as an archery event draws out archers & not necessarily anyone else. The people who did show up were a great bunch, and they seemed to be having fun. I stopped by while some paint on the aumbry dried, and got inspired by the cool crossbows I got to see. I have always wanted to make a late period German sport bow. One of the ones that have the immense amount of bone/ivory inlay. Another project in the future.

Maybe not that much inlay, but it does lend itself to what is possible.
