Having acquired Buffalo fleece at AT war, and previously turned a drop spindle to spin the wool. I went ahead an made a set of wool combs.

I have had a chunk of scrap walnut kicking around the shop for years now, so I decided to use it. Its just big enough to make two paddles and two handles. The handles will be a little short, but still usable

Ripped the paddles in half on the band saw.

Drilled the holes spread evenly apart. I then carved a recess to accommodate the nail heads.

With the nails heads installed. I glued the two ripped sides together and clamped them shut.

Turned a handle with the left over scrap walnut. I made the dowel insert very tight, but it still came apart with the pulling the fleece. I nailed a square nail into the paddle locking the handle in place.
