Its my nephews 3rd birthday coming up in ~ 2 weeks time. I decided to make him a Norse tent to play in.

I bought 4 1×3’s and 3, 1 1/4″ dowels (6ft lenght)

Trimmed the 1×3’s down to 6′ lenghts.

I marked and punched a centering point at one end, and another ~ 12″ from the other side. The tape is there to minimize the tear out from drilling out the holes.

I then enlarged the holes with a drum sander in the drill press. I need the holes to accomodate the doweling easily.

The basic structure is done.

I decided to have goat heads on the peaks. I have made a point of including a goat in just about every thing I have built my nephew.

The overlap was doweled and glued in place.

Goat head after the shape had been cut out on a scroll saw.

Two heads are better than one (four better still).

Left over canvas from the bedouin tent being cut down to the width needed.

Sewing a tube at the ends and middle.

the doweling placed inside the canvas tubes.

The structure as it is when I decided I had enough for today.

Still to come, the doors, carving and wood burning the goat heads, and maybe some runes along the boards spelling out Lelands name.
