Lelands Norse Play Tent v1.1

The deadline for the tent is drawing near. I still have a bunch of stuff to do, and only a couple of days to do it.

I started in on the carving. Carving has never been my forte, but it is a fairly simple pattern…

The carving is finished. I am not overly happy with the finished product, but it will have to do.

The poles are held in place with wooden pins.

I went with toggles and loops for the tent closures. Leland is only three, and I thought he’d have an easier time with toggles than ties.

With the left over canvas from the beduoin tent, I made a simple draw string bag to hold it all together in the off season.

I sewed a small pocket on the bag to hold all the wooden pegs. Then drew on a goofy goat (same goat was burned onto Lee’s tool box).

Started to burn some details onto the goat heads.

Burned goats. I am so not happy how they turned out. Lelands will love it, but I will always look upon the tent as a big old FAIL.

I’ll post a picture of the final product with the birthday boy next week.
