Bed Platform

Once I had made the Bedouin tent, I tried out my turned rope bed to see how it would fit inside the tent. It fit, and would have done a good job of being …well…a bed. The more I looked at it, the more It just did not look right.

I decided I needed to reduce the height of the bed. I didn’t want to destroy the turned bad frame. Instead I made a new head and foot board, and reused the side rails on the turned bed.

First I needed to laminate some of my ever present pieces of plywood. Together they measure just over an inch thick.

Decided to add some decorative elements to the boards

Side rails installed in head board (four 1″ holes drilled)

Foot board installed and the slats lying in place. I wanted it to double as a seating bench for inside the Bedouin tent.

The foot , head boards, and slats were painted with the never ending can of paint stain. (I’ve used it on a ton of projects and its still mostly full).

The whole platform is again built to accommodate my rug hooked wool mattress that was given to me by Baroness Jodan.

Anything to keep from sleeping on the ground.
