Emily’s Highchair v1.0

With Christmas sneaking up fast, I have been forced to start working on presents. First up is Emily’s first birthday/christmas present. I had originally wanted to make her a rocking animal. Leland got a super cool rocking goat for his first birthday, but the idea kind of got nixed on me. I was told that I should make Emily a highchair for her, and then her teddy bears when she is bigger. I have decided to make her a high chair that will later get cut down to a small chair she can use for years to come…. The Teddy’s can fend for themselves.

First up sketching a design. Using the sketch to figure out measurements not so much design. Not a medieval design, but its my blog and I’ll write if I want too.

Made a story stick so I can duplicate the legs. This one is for the front legs.

Turned a test leg out of skid runner. Like the look of it. Decided to do a lot of barley twist on this chair.

I bought a nice slab of dark walnut for the chair. It was expensive but I think it will look awesome when done.

The slab was cut into nice square billets.

Tomorrow the marking and turning begins.
