Houndstooth Weaving

Decided to pull out the old loom. I was going to sell it to Mistress Agnes, but at the last minute choose not too. I don’t have room for a floor loom at the moment,  so the $20 Value Village find will have to sufice.

There is an amazing web site call Handweaving.net that has a mind boggling number of weaving drafts. I have a 4 heddle loom so, that narrowed done the choice a bit, but still found an interesting Hounstooth pattern.

I am using cotton crochet thread. The blue is around twice as thick as the white thread, so I doubled up the white on weft and warp to try to make it work.

Not quite sure how I managed it, but I am weaving the bad side facing up. Its just as easy to weave just not as nice looking.

Picture taken from underneath of the good side hence the slightly out of focus shot. I am planning to make a few pouchs for games/cards to hand out as prizes for game tourneys.

I’ve said it before… I am not a textiles kind of girl, but I do really like weaving. I need to start working on a simplex loom.
